Waste Connections of Canada recognizes the importance of being both a good neighbour and partner in the local community.

In addition to the 20 employees who work at the Coronation Landfill and live in the surrounding community, Waste Connections also generates significant tax revenue for the County and makes other contributions aimed at contributing to the vitality of the community. These include:

  • A royalty that is paid to Paintearth Regional Waste Management Ltd. annually based on the volume of material that comes into the Coronation Landfill. In 2015 that amount was approximately $500,000.
  • We also purchase all of our fuel and oils locally; this is on average $50,000 per month.
  • We support local businesses through our purchasing of trucking services, equipment supply, vehicle parts, tires, as well as goods and services such as lodging and restaurants.
  • Accepting municipal waste from all communities in the County of Paintearth to the Coronation Landfill at no charge.

Through our Community Enhancement Fund partnership with Paintearth Regional Waste Management Ltd., the Coronation Landfill supports a wide variety of local organizations. In 2015, Waste Connections of Canada contributed nearly $90,000.

We are proud of this record and are committed to making continued investments to support this community we work and live. The following are the community groups that Waste Connections of Canada supported in 2015 through financial contributions.
